Patrick Prager, the Executive Chef for Silverado Resort's The Grill, Mansion Bar and Terrace, Market and Bakery, and Banquets, boasts a journey as rich and varied as the dishes he creates. Born and raised in the heart of Alameda, California, his hospitality career began in his early 20s, serving ice cream scoops at Loard's, a beloved local ice cream staple since 1950. It was here that his passion for customer service was kindled.

Determined to become a chef by age 30, he embarked on a journey across the culinary landscapes of Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, San Diego, Denver, Sacramento, and San Francisco. Along the way, he made his mark in renowned kitchens, including Postrio, a Wolfgang Puck-owned restaurant in San Francisco from 1999 to 2001, as well as other iconic Bay Area establishments, such as The Cliff House, One Market, and Chef Michael Mina's Aqua and XIV. Mina played a significant role in Prager's journey and continues to influence his culinary style greatly today.

In 2005, Prager and his family moved to Sacramento, where he honed his hospitality skills as Executive Chef for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Chef for Paragary Restaurant Group, among other roles with Marriott Hotels. In 2022, Prager joined Silverado Resort, lured by the allure of wine country and the opportunity to refine culinary experiences in a picturesque setting.

His culinary philosophy encompasses California cuisine and French influences, prioritizing flavor, artistry, and memorable dining experiences. His goal is for each dish to be equally delicious, artistic, and educational. Equally important, mentorship is central in his kitchens; hoping to nurture and guide the next generation of chefs.

Beyond the kitchen, Prager is a dedicated family man, avid cyclist, and wine enthusiast – having his Sommelier certification. He finds joy in traveling with his wife and kids and exploring new culinary landscapes. With strong philanthropic endeavors, he has forged partnerships with local schools, and organizations, such as No Kid Hungry, and has actively participated in events like Chef Cycle – highlighting his steadfast dedication to giving back to the community. Chef Prager was named the People's Choice Winner at Hall's 2025 Cabernet Cookoff, earning a $10,000 award for his charity, and is also a frequent guest on KRON's Live in the Bay.
